Birthday and Christmas Party

I originally planned to celebrate Alexa's 2nd birthday simple celebration on December 11 (actual birthday is Dec.10) but Uncle C is probably leaving for Germany within that times so we will move it on December 4. I mean that is in 2 weeks so here I am again cramming to prepare. I have not started anything yet so here comes the budgetarian party mommy on the go!

Our company's Christmas party will also be small this year as we just had our teambuilding which cost us a lot of money. This may not be small for other companies but its big for a small company like ours. We originally planned to have a party on January when Uncle C is back from Europe. As we will celebrate Alexa's 2nd birthday with our staff kids anyway, we might as well do it simultaneously: a kiddie party in the afternoon and a mini-Christmas party for the staff and dance the night away in Cowboy Grill.

Hey, if you have any budgetarian tip for a Christmas party, post away friends. We are open for any suggestion.

I know a lot of you are in the mood for party. Same with us. But time is hard so we must adjust our celebration. Lets not all forget the real spirit of Christmas.

Advance happy birthday my little dolly Alexa. Now back to party planning, got any tipid tips? Let me know..

Thumb-Sucking Kid

My little princess finds joy in thumb-sucking. I am quite worried as at times, she prefers to thumb-such than drink her milk.

I asked her pediatrician and as advised, thumb-sucking is a common habit for babies as it has a soothing and calming effect. It will eventually stop by the age of 3. I hope by then she would stop  as currently her front tooth has started to make a wrong curve. hahaha Anyway, as long as it is still baby teeth, its all okay for me.

Anyway, as I was busy looking and taking a picture of her, hubby asked Alexa: whats the problem of Uncle C?

Naughty as she is, she hurriedly pointed her finger:

Dress Up Your Bed

If you are bored with your bed and want a quick makeover, simple - dress up your headboard.

Start with a piece of thin quilting batting large enough to drape over the headboard. Choose a fabric that you like and cut into two pieces, each two inches larger than the batting.

Pin the fabrics together inside out and place eight ribbon ties so you can stitch them into the seam. Sew around all but a few inches, turn right side out, slide the batting in, smooth flat, and finish by hand.

Like the idea?

Fighting Cocks

Filipinos are fond of cockfighting or locally called sabong. Some of our warehouse personnel  are also into this thingy. Now imagine how our warehouse looks like!  How about your husband? Are they also in cockfighting? My hubby just loves to eat chicken and not play with them. lol

Wordless Wednesday: Dr. Francis

I received the activities done by Francis in school when I dropped by one day. One of that is the figure with Dr. Francis. No wonder at times, he would talk to me and say, Mommy call me Dr. Francis.. now I know!

So allow me to introduce to you my future Dr. Francis. I hope we can afford.

Party Theme

Its party planning time again for me. My daughter Alexa will turn 2 years old on December 10 but since it falls on a week day, we will celebrate on a Saturday afternoon.

The first and the most important in party planning is the party theme. For first birthday party, its always the big siblings or the parents who will decide for the theme. But for toddler and preschooler, they already know what they want. No matter how I convinced them for my choice, they always win. Oh well, its their party after all. For now, I can only suggest but the final decision is not mine.. anymore!

So as early as now, I already have a line up for the theme for their party:

Alexa's 2nd birthday : December 10, 2010 - Dora
Francis's 7th birthday: February 17,2 010 - Transformer
Christoph's 6th birthday: June 30, 2010 - Hot Wheels

For Alexa is simple, she simply loves Dora! She loves that everytime she sees Dora, her smile is up and jumping in joy!

For Francis, as it is his 7th birthday and he wanted a Jollibee party - so Jollibee it is! Even if he is too old for that.. lol. And as usual, there is not much choice in fastfood chain for theme. So its either Justice League or Transformer, he had already a Justice League theme party in Jollibee when he was 4 years old. So scrap the Superman issue.

For Christoph, he wanted Cars this time but I wanted a slight difference as CARS is already too common. So Hotwheels it is.

Now, its my duty to buy the party materials and book some suppliers. I still prefer to plan on my own.. I am a budgetarian after all.

But hey, you can help me too! The next time you see a sale about any of the theme mentioned.. just buzz me please.

Nursery Rhymes

You might have noticed that I am posting here some nursery rhymes. I just want to compile in my blog so whenever we sing at home, I know where to find the lyrics.

You see, the boys always sing for Alexa and so funny that at times, the lyrics are wrong.. so to correct them, I need to know the lyrics as well..

Any other nursery rhymes you can recommend that is a sure hit for kids? Just buzz me mommies and daddies..

London Bridge Is Falling Down

London Bridge is falling down,
Falling down, falling down,
London Bridge is falling down,
My fair Lady.

Build it up with wood and clay,
Wood and clay, wood and clay,
Build it up with wood and clay,
My fair Lady.

Wood and clay will wash away,
Wash away, wash away,
Wood and clay will wash away,
My fair Lady.

Build it up with bricks and mortar,
Bricks and mortar, bricks and mortar,
Build it up with bricks and mortar,
My fair Lady.

Bricks and mortar will not stay,
Will not stay, will not stay,
Bricks and mortar will not stay,
My fair Lady.

Build it up with iron and steel,
Iron and steel, iron and steel,
Build it up with iron and steel,
My fair Lady.

Iron and steel will bend and bow,
Bend and bow, bend and bow,
Iron and steel will bend and bow,
My fair Lady.

Build it up with silver and gold,
Silver and gold, silver and gold,
Build it up with silver and gold,
My fair Lady.

Silver and gold will be stolen away,
Stolen away, stolen away,
Silver and gold will be stolen away,
My fair Lady.

Set a man to watch all nigh,
Watch all night, watch all night,
Set a man to watch all night,
My fair Lady.

Suppose the man should fall asleep,
Fall asleep, fall asleep,
Suppose the man should fall asleep?
My fair Lady.

Give him a pipe to smoke all night,
Smoke all night, smoke all night,
Give him a pipe to smoke all night,
My fair Lady.

Laugh or Lose

While I am writing this post, I am watching TV 5's Laugh or Lose with Vic Sotto as the main host. With bonus cast: Wally and Jose. This show really rocks!! Hubby and I cant help but laugh the whole time.

The show is quite simple. The viewers are divided into 2 groups with Jose and Wally as the team captain. The captain will convince the other's team member to laugh. The more laughs they get, the group wins.

You should try watching it. Really rocks our world! Really worth watching! This is shown every Saturday evening. This is our first time and will surely not the last.

Kudos to the men and women of TV 5!

Do Your Ears Hang Low?

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Do your ears hang low?

Does your tongue hang down?
Does it flop all around?
Can you tie it in a knot?
Can you tie it in a bow?
Can you throw it o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Does your tongue hang down?

Does your nose hang low?
Does it wiggle to and fro?
Can you tie it in a knot?
Can you tie it in a bow?
Can you throw it o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Does your nose hang low?

Do your eyes pop out?
Do they bounce all about?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
like a Continental Soldier?
Do your eyes pop out?

Daddy's Hobby

Hubby is the sporty type. He is always into sports. When he was younger, he used to be in martial arts and doing great.. he won several times in a taekwondo competition.

These days, he loves gun. Yes, he goes to the firing range on Sundays if the kids are home and we dont have any activities.

He is doing good as he has won several trophies from different shooting competition.

The boys started to like this hobby as well but they are both too young yet. I dont know if I would approve but I keep the option open.

Insurance Endowment Benefits

I received the statement for the Insurance Policy for my 2 sons. I purchased a Life Insurance for the two boys 4 years ago at the height of the CAP educational plan controversy.

Time flies so fast that after religiously paying for 4 years, we are now entitled to receive an endowment benefits for Php 30,000 per plan. Whew. Thats cold cash indeed! I wanted to get it to buy something...lol.. but hubby prefers to leave it there. This is also the advise of our Sunlife agent to earn dividends and who knows what. Honestly, I still dont get the full picture of this plan. One thing is certain, I have something to pluck when the going gets tough!

I was thinking also to buy Alexa her own. But with financial situation now, too difficult! Life is hard you know! I will rely for her brothers to pay when its time for her to go college. So Francis and Christoph - nothing is for free in life! hahaha.. Alexa's college will be your turn to pay! lol
